“Irrespective of any political party, I am a supporter of good people who want to do something for the society.” –Kapil Dev
You went to the March for Life back in January. Tell me about it.
I went because I believe in the protection of human dignity from natural conception to natural death. A lot of people who are pro-choice say it’s a women’s issue, but at the pro-life march more than 50% of the crowd was women. While we were there, you could see the country is very divided on the issue of Roe v. Wade, and I realized it’s going to be a long time before Roe v. Wade will be overturned.
What’s it like being pro-life and a Democrat? Because most people perceive that Republicans lead the pro-life movement.
I believe that Democrats are more pro-life than Republicans. For example, Republicans are pro-death-penalty but Democrats are against it because it’s wrong to end someone’s life.
Republicans tend to be war hogs–historically they don’t use diplomacy–and Democrats avoid war unless necessary, because we understand the true price of war is someone’s life. The current Republican administration wants to abolish Obama Care. Universal health insurance is a pro-life issue. Everyone should have a right to see a doctor. So, all in all, I think Democrats are more pro-life than Republicans.
What’s one thing you want someone who opposes your beliefs to know?
Just because we disagree doesn’t mean we can’t be civil with each other or hear each other out.
